About

The ocean sustains us with the basic elements of life, it produces half of the air we breath, an essential part of the water cycle, and provides us with tons of food. The world's beaches help support ocean health. Beaches provide nesting grounds and habitat for important ocean wildlife and support complex coastal economies especially here in Hawaii.

Significance

Ocean trash ranks as one of the serious pollution problems. Much more than an eyesore, trash on the beach and in the water affect the health of people, wildlife, and economies. Marine debris can injure swimmer and beachgoers, harm wildlife, drives tourists away and their wallets. We can prevent this by organizing and executing beach cleanups.
